Tiling & Slating

Pitched roofs in clay, concrete or natural slate, fixed to BS 5534 and matched to your property and the street around it.

New natural slate roof on a Victorian terrace in Redhill

The covering is what you see, and what keeps the weather out. We lay clay plain tiles, concrete interlocking tiles and natural slate to BS 5534, with the right fixings, laps and verge detail for your roof pitch and exposure.

Matching matters in the South East. Whether your street is clay peg tile, Welsh slate or concrete interlocker, we source coverings that sit properly alongside the neighbours, including reclaimed and handmade options for period properties.

What is included

  • Clay plain and handmade peg tiles
  • Concrete interlocking and plain tiles
  • Welsh, Spanish and reclaimed natural slate
  • Copper or stainless steel fixings
  • Dry ridge, dry verge and lead details
  • Tile matching for period properties

Common questions

Usually whatever the street already wears, and whatever the roof pitch allows. Slate suits steeper pitches and period properties; interlocking tile is the value option on most 20th century homes. We bring samples to the survey.

It is the British Standard for slating and tiling, covering fixing, laps and wind resistance. Roofs fixed to the standard stay on in storms; roofs that are not, often do not.
